Welcome to K-S-A.

Killington Sailing Association welcomes all types of sailors and canoeists to our lake. The presence of wind turbines gives an indication of good wind conditions on most days with a prevailing SW wind. Racing takes place in an informal fashion on Wednesday evenings during BST. There is no formal instruction for sailors but peer teaching can be arranged. Several youth groups use the lake such as Kendal Sea Cadets and Lancaster Sea Scouts as well as many clients from Bendrigg Lodge. New members are always welcome and contact should be made initially to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

In accordance with new government guidelines

re the Coronavirus Pandemic

Activities for individual members and groups are restored and there is limited access to the toilets (only) in the clubhouse

Dear Member

Thanks for your patience and understanding of the closing of the site over the last few weeks.

In line with government guidelines it is now permissible to open the dinghy park to give members access to their craft and to the lake.

The access is for individual members and family members from one household and will start on Wednesday 13th May 2020.

During these difficult times the strict government guidelines must be followed. Ensure that a 2 metre physical distance between others is maintained at all time.

Wear gloves to operate the gate lock when you enter and leave the site and use your hand sanitiser when necessary.

Be aware of other members on site at all times and avoid accessing the site if you are uneasy about the number of people on site.

To further minimise the risk of infection to members the clubhouse facilities will not be available. There is no access until further notice.

It is felt that using the club craft could increase the risk of transmitting the virus so they will not be made available for use at present.

Please make your own risk assessment when planning your visit.

The KSA Committee does not take any responsibility for members’ actions during their time at the site.

Significant updates that may affect activity at the site will be sent by email.

Please check and abide by the latest government guidelines to protect yourself and others from the transmission of the virus.

Be safe and stay safe.

KSA Committee 12 May 2020

From 4th July, the Government has assessed that indoor sports venues/facilities cannot be made sufficiently Covid-19 secure and should remain closed. The Government intends to enforce this by law so clubs should ensure members understand that they will continue to be expected to get changed at home (or in the boat park) and not enter the club house unless using the toilet.

The club is open to all members at present providing they fully observe government guidelines on group/bubble size and proximity and in the case of groups, observing their own organising body’s regulations.

The clubhouse is only open for toilet use – no other facilities indoors are available – there is spray disinfectant inside both toilets to spray down any surfaces you have touched after use – Please use a paper towel to also disinfect the clubhouse door handles after use.  (please don’t be tempted to use toilets as a changing room – come to the club changed for action)

Club boats are available for loan to a single borrower/bubble/family (therefore not group members)  for a period of exclusive use from Friday to Monday – which allows 72 hours on Tues – Thursday for the boat to reduce any Covid transmission risk.  Bookings need to be made in advance through Myles ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) one weekend at a time.

The Club RIB is not presently available for use.

Current RYA guidance allows multi person crewing of dinghies subject to your own risk assessment – the full guidance is available here.
