Laser Open Meeting Saturday 16th April 2016 - NOTICE OF RACE

1 RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016.

1.2 The RYA prescriptions to the Racing Rules of Sailing will apply.

1.3 The Sailing Instructions will apply.

1.4 Racing rule 40 will be changed – Use of personal buoyancy. When on the water competitors shall wear adequate personal buoyancy. Wet suits and dry suits are not adequate personal buoyancy.

 

2 ADVERTISING

Advertising will be designated as Category C.

 

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 The regatta is open Laser, Laser Radial and Laser 4,7 dinghies only.

3.2 Eligible boats may pre-enter by downloading the entry form from the Killington Sailing Association website or at Killington Sailing Association between 09.00hrs and 11.00 hrs on 16th April 2016.

 

4 FEES

Required fees are as follows:

4.1 Entry Fee £15.00. An additional levee of £1.00 per boat will be payable to the Laser Lakeland Series.

 

5 SCHEDULE

5.1 Three races are scheduled.

5.2 Registration and Entry Fee Payment at Killington Sailing Association between 0900 hrs and 1100 hrs on 16 April 2016.

5.3 Competitors briefing in front of clubhouse on 16 April 2016 start 1130 hrs to 1200 hrs (exact time posted on official notice board)

5.4 The scheduled time of the first warning signal on Saturday 16th April is 12.25 hrs.

 

 

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available during Registration.

 

8 VENUE

Killington Sailing Association is situated on Killington Reservoir just off Junction 37 on the M6 in SE Cumbria. Come off at junction 37 and head East for approx. 300m and take the first right turn. Head down this narrow road (lots of blind dips so go carefully!) until you have the lake on your right hand side. Turn right at the first junction after the lake and follow lake shore for about 500m until you reach club house. There is plenty of parking after you have unloaded in the fisherman’s car park about 200m before the clubhouse.

 

9 THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be displayed on the committee boat before the start sequence for each race. Club buoys 1 to A may be used, with the addition of moveable green and white start buoys.

 

10 PENALTY SYSTEM

The penalties are as detailed in RRS 44 except that rule 44.3 shall not apply. The Exoneration penalty (and the Advisory Hearing and RYA Arbitration procedures) of the RYA Rules Disputes Procedures will not be available.

 

11 SCORING

11.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply.

11.2 2 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

11.3 A boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

 

12 Support Boats

Individual support boats are not allowed on the water.

Official support boats will attempt to cater for any special needs if requested.

 

13 RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

 

14 PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the leading boat and to a number of other boats at the discretion of the organisers.

 

15 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 

16 INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3 million per event or the equivalent.
